This is the big race of the summer in Sydney, with a pretty good field on Saturday.

Galah should start favourite but there are any number of hopes in the $175,000 feature at Warwick Farm.

My old favourite Cabernet should produce a better effort now that she's back to the mile.

Disregard her run in the Festival Stakes, she was held up and should have finished a lot closer to the winner.

Monton almost snatched the chocolates in the Festival and although he'll lug a big weight he can go close again.

Shout Out Loud is coming off a win in Melbourne, and from a good draw he could stun his rivals with a strong front-running performance.

Throw in Alma's Fury, All Legal, Quidnunc and Highly Recommended and there could be a thrilling finish.

I'm sticking with Cabernet - having big-race jockey Hugh Bowman on board can be the difference.

I can't work out why this mare is at $7.50 in early betting markets.

She's coming off a huge spring in Melbourne where she won the group 3 Moonga Stakes at Caulfield and in her other two starts she was hardly disappointing.

She returns to her home state today for a crack at an open handicap over 1100 metres - which could be her only undoing at Doomben.

She does come up against a couple of good horses in Azzaland and Gundy Son, but I'm happy to back Whateverwhenever.

Doomben race 6, No.2 Whateverwhenever

Has been given a generous weight of 56.5kg considering she's won a group 3, and from barrier five I expect the five-year-old to be ridden a little closer to the leader on Saturday.

She has a powerful finish and will need it over the 1100m.

She has won over the trip, but it could be a little short … I don't think it will be.

Ascot race 7, No.2 Mr Moet

Pinched a group 1 victory two starts back over the mile, but the gelding gets out to his preferred journey here over 2100m, and I suspect Mr Moet will add to his $1.1 million in prizemoney.

He's drawn wide, which shouldn't be an issue for this versatile horse.

Flemington race eight, No.3 Al Aneed

He's been given a freshen-up after contesting some of the second-tier three-year-old events in the spring.

He won the listed Gothic Stakes before racing soundly in back-to-back group outings.

He looks the best horse in the race. Good value at the $7 if you can get it.
