Fell Swoop drew barrier eight on Tuesday and is a $51 rank outsider for The Everest at Randwick on Saturday.

Dale decided to escape the hype by shifting his base to Moruya on the south coast for the final stages of the build up to the world's richest race on grass.

It's about as far removed from The Everest build up as Dale can get, especially when you consider the town's population is less than 3,000 and the Randwick crowd could swell to 30,000.

But the nerves will start to kick in when Dale and Fell Swoop arrive in Sydney on Friday afternoon and start counting down the hours to the biggest moment of their careers.

"It really is one of those once in a lifetime opportunities for small-time owners and trainers. You've got to embrace it," Dale said.

"Coming down here has helped me just step away for a fraction. It's been nice to do the horses down here and not get too wound up by it.

"The horse is loving it down here and I've stepped away from it in the build up which has been great."

Fell Swoop was represented by joint breeders Graham Sing and Paul Armstrong at the barrier draw with the Sydney Opera House as the backdrop.

"I think all the speedsters drew inside in [barriers] two, three, four and five

"So rather than getting stuck in that whirlwind in the first 200 metres, we're better off getting there with a sit behind them. Wait for them to peter out a bit in the last 200 metres and come over the top," Singh said.

Asked if he thought he'd be in a $10 million race, Armstrong said: "Not in a million years."

Former Black Opal winners Trapeze Artist and Takedown have been named as emergencies for the race, further enhancing the reputation of Canberra's premier race day.

But Fell Swoop is the main attraction and the six-year-old gelding has been wading through the Moruya River almost every day for the past two weeks for the perfect preparation.

Jockey Tye Angland is confident the Canberra horse can challenge for the title, with the winner walking away with $5.4 million.

"It's going to be a little bit tricky from barrier eight, but it's a high-pressure race and that sort of falls into Fell Swoop's ideal category," Angland said.

"He's a little bit of a strong-going horse. He hasn't got the greatest turn of foot, so the harder-run the race is, it suits him because he keeps grinding and grinding.

"He's not one of those horses that can sit and dash like Chautauqua can. You look at his two runs in the TJ Smith Stakes, they were strong 1200 metre races and he was always there at the finish."

Three-time TJ Smith winner Chautauqua has drawn gate five while favourite She Will Reign will start from barrier two.

"She is sharp and she is ready," said She Will Reign trainer Gary Portelli said. "The barrier is perfect and we can't wait for Saturday now.

"These good horses are just amazing and she keeps lifting the bar and I think she will do that again."
