Fell Swoop has been at unbackable odds to win his first group race this weekend, seemingly unbeatable at weight for age conditions.

Dale said the sprinter appeared well set to make a statement up north. No matter the result on Saturday, Fell Swoop will press on to the group 1 BTC Cup a fortnight later. The group 1 Stradbroke Handicap and Doomben 10,000 remain options later in the carnival.

"He looks well placed, he's an emerging sprinter who should be awfully hard to beat," Dale said.

"It's weight for age – he's proved himself at weight for age last start and that was a lot harder, so he looks good.

"He'll go to the BTC Sprint in two weeks and then we'll assess from there. He's had a long campaign, even though he's only had three runs. He's been ready to go since February.

"Once you get to a high-quality level, you can't just run every week – he was on that group 1 sprint path and this is where it leads. If we weren't going to the paddock we were coming up here, so we're happy to have a go at the Brisbane Carnival."

Dale expected Didntcostalot to set the early speed, but hadn't finalised a race strategy. From barrier two he has several options.

Originally trained in Sydney by Marc Conners, Didntcostalot has had seven starts for Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan, recording four wins and two minor placings.

"I have set Didntcostalot for the Victory Stakes since his last start in January, when he was a good sixth in the Magic Millions Sprint," Gollan said.

"He ran 1.8.17 seconds when he won the George Moore Stakes at his previous start and that is a very smart time.

"If he gets anywhere near that time on Saturday they will be flying to catch him."

Fell Swoop kicks off a busy fortnight for the leading Canberra trainer, who will head to Wagga for its carnival, where Unanimously will chase a third Town Plate on Thursday.

He will then return to Brisbane to oversee Fell Swoop's BTC Cup preparation. with AAP
