Nikolic admits he 'cleaned up' evidence

JOCKEY Danny Nikolic has admitted that he lied to an earlier hearing that he hadn't used the word "c---" in relation to threats he allegedly made to Victoria's chief racing steward Terry Bailey.

Nikolic told the Victorian Civil and Administative Tribunal on Wednesday that he had  ‘‘cleaned up his evidence’’ since he fronted the  Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board (RAD) last month.

Under cross examination from counsel for Racing Victoria, Nikolic said that he had lied in earlier evidence and  wished to change some aspects  after talks with his legal team last Sunday.

Lawyers for RVL pressed Nikolic on his other evidence, but Nikolic still denied that he had threatened Bailey’s family.

Nikolic was disqualified for two years earlier this month after being found guilty by the RAD board of threatening Bailey at Seymour races in September.

Nikolic is at VCAT seeking to have the ban lifted.
