BET OF THE DAY
I GET AROUND (Race 8, No. 13): This impressive-looking visitor from New South Wales really caught the eye on his Melbourne debut, when he endured an awkward run around the 1000-metre course at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day. He hung out for the entire race at his first try anticlockwise but managed to chase down the leader Galbraith, only to be caught on the line by the late-charging Freereturn. He races down Flemington's straight course and has the services of Glen Boss to help him do so. Good luck catching him.
Oaks Day preview
Our racing experts preview all the action at Flemington for Crown Oaks Day on Thursday.
THE AGE RACING EXPERTS' QUADDIE
LEG 1 OAKS
Unlike many other of the feature races this spring, there appears to be three main chances here — Dear Demi, Zydeco and the still untested Summerbliss.
NUMBERS 1, 2, 8
LEG 2 SPRING STAKES
The two horses at the top of the weights Kazanluk and Scapolo have the strongest form but are taking on some up-and-comers. It looks a real raffle.
LEG 3 FASHION STAKES
Can't wait to see the huge NSW galloper I Get Around strut his stuff here. Looks well above average and is the one to beat.
LEG 4 STYLE HANDICAP
A good mix of tried and tested horses such as Prizum and Lord Of Brazil up against some promising gallopers such as New York.
NUMBERS 1, 2, 4, 7, 11.
Cost: For $60 you get 25 per cent of the $1 dividend.
Run Diego (Race 5, No. 14): Nothing is more exotic (well, maybe a few things) on Oaks day than betting on the greys race. Run Diego has the ideal gate of four.
