Australia snags a T20 win over England

Glenn Maxwell scores an unbeaten century in Australia's Twenty20 win over England in Hobart.

The Sebring colt won his first two starts before being a Ming Dynasty Stakes runner-up and fifth in the Golden Rose in the spring, but that was done on sheer ability.

He will resume in Saturday's Eskimo Prince Stakes at Warwick Farm, along with stablemate Brave Song, and he could be at the start of a defining preparation.

"He is more complete now," Snowden said. "He was doing things wrong in that first preparation, so got to where he did on talent. He is more of a racehorse. He knows what he has to do and I think you will see that this preparation.

"It will be interesting to see how he goes at the 1200 metres on Saturday, because like a lot of the horses in this race he is going to get better with more trip. But I think he's well enough to run a big race.

"Brave Song probably has a bit of an advantage with a bit of residual fitness from those wins in December and he is more of a sprinter.

"It is good to go into the race with two horses that are very well and have bigger goals ahead of them."

Brave Song missed the Magic Millions Guineas after his wins at Canterbury and Randwick in December to head down the path of attempting to measure up to top three-year-olds in the autumn.

"He is coming from a different angle to this race and we will find out a bit more about him," Snowden said.

The Eskimo Prince brings together first-up winner Coolmore-owned Siege Of Quebec and Godolphin's Kementari, which was Caulfield Guineas runner-up, with the Snowden pair to give the first real insight into the serious big-race contenders.

James Cummings believes Kementari is suited for the conditions as he is yet to have a black-type win and carries the limit like Assimilate and Brave Song.

"Under the conditions of the race, he's the best weighted horse in it. He's shown that he gets better as he gets deeper into his preparation, but I think he can run a really cheeky race," Cummings said.

Kementari has been made the $3.40 favourite at Sportsbet in front of Siege Of Quebec and Brave Song at $4, while Assimilate is a $7.50 chance.

The Snowden yard will also make the trip to Warwick Farm with Gimcrack Stakes winner Satin Slipper for the Lonhro Plate after she has had a couple of trial hit-outs.

"She is probably our only filly for the Slipper," Snowden said. "It is a good place for her to start and she will have a couple of runs before the big day."
