English import Housby missed last weekend's nine-point loss in the grand final replay against the Queensland Firebirds, leaving Trinidadian import Sam Wallace to shoulder the shooting load, scoring 48 of the team's 53 points.

Amy Sommerville will deputise in the goal attack bib for a second-straight week, and Swifts coach Robert Wright is hopeful Housby will be back the following weekend against the Magpies.

"We're being cautious, I'd rather her miss two games than the whole season, and not try to rush her back and something goes wrong," Wright said.

"She'll get assessed at the start of next week. Just because it's a thumb as well, when you use it all the time, I just really worry that if she re-damages, it could put her out for the season.

"She's certainly showing why I think she's going to be an absolute star of the future. She's only young, she turns 22 at some stage this year.

"Her and Sam's combination really keeps growing, and at the end of the day they haven't played a lot together.

"She was certainly missed but I always think there's a good lining on that, it gave Amy a start. She's never played in a game until last week so that's pretty amazing that she's come out and played 60 [minutes].

"The more experience you get the better you are, so I think she'll lift again for this week."

The Swifts are in danger of dropping into the Super Netball's bottom two if they fail against the winless Fever who were brave against the Melbourne Vixens last weekend before falling 11 points short.

Diamond Natalie Medhurst is yet to leave her stamp on a game this year having lost long-time shooting partner Caitlin Bassett to the newly formed Sunshine Coast Lightning in the off-season.

But Kaylia Stanton has emerged as a attacking threat, scoring 28 goals in her last two games, and Wright was wary of the dangers still posed by the Fever's shooters.

"Those combinations are growing and she [Medhurst] leads that beautifully," Wright said.

"I always think she is never far away, she can turn it on and sometimes she's just tough to stop. Let's just hope she doesn't quite be on song on Friday.

"That's a combination thing as well, her and Bassett have played with the Diamonds and with Fever as well for a long time.

"We've been impressed with Stanton, we're expecting that we'll probably see her again, she got the start last week and I think she's done a terrific job.

"They play really well at home and I think they've really built nicely. Even last week, for three quarters they were right in it."
