The country's leading players last month threatened to not represent Australia for the remainder of the year after Anne-Marie Corboy was removed from the Netball Australia (NA) board, and Kathryn Harby-Williams failed in her bid to be re-elected.

But the unanimous re-election of Paolina Hunt two weeks ago as NA chairperson was welcomed by the Australian Netball Players' Association, and appears to have appeased disgruntled players who had also threatened industrial action and forming a breakaway league.

International netball returns to Australia in August with the Diamonds hosting England in Brisbane to kick off the Quad Series. Australia and New Zealand will also clash in October for the annual, four-game Constellation Cup.

NSW Swifts and Diamonds midcourter Paige Hadley said her teammates had every intention to fulfil their representative duties.

"That's been resolved, the Players Association has taken that matter and I think the chair being re-elected is a positive sign for us," Hadley said.

"As athletes, we just want to stick together and make this sport continually grow.

"We've done so much in the past few years to elevate it. All the girls don't want to do that [boycott international games], they want to play for Australia and play for Diamonds.

"The players are unified no matter what team they're from or what country they're from, we're here and we want to make this sport and this competition go beyond its years and I think we're at the forefront of women's sport and we want to stay there.

"We want women's sport to be chasing us but at the moment we just need to keep pushing higher boundaries and we'll get there."

Hadley returned from a knee injury for the Swifts in Saturday night's 12-point loss to the Magpies, which ended their faint hopes of a top-four finish.

The 24-year-old has carried the injury for most of the year after hyper-extending her knee in round two, and missed three games before returning against the Magpies.

A poor second quarter cost NSW in Melbourne on Saturday, but the young Sydney siders improved after halftime to keep the score respectable.

The Swifts remain sixth with three wins for the year, and Hadley said her side a top-four finish in 2018 was well within reach.

"Anything below that top four will be quite disappointing especially if we keep the core group together," Hadley said.

"There's a lot I think we need to improve on. Those pressure situations and being able to win those in those tight moments, but also the combinations.

"We've only actually played 11 games together where some teams have played years with players. It's just about developing those combinations and being able to have a really strong 10 so we can change it up when we need to change it up.

"Some players were figured out this year but I think we need to be able to add more to our repertoire to become a really unstoppable force."
