Star Trinidadian shooter Sam Wallace and Australian Diamond Paige Hadley headline the spate of re-signings which also include defenders Sarah Klau and Maddy Turner, and midcourt star Maddy Proud.

They join captain Abbey McCulloch and English import Helen Housby who signed two-year deals prior to the inaugural Super Netball season.

Amy Sommerville and Emma Tickner may yet put pen to paper and extend their stay at the Swifts, although coach Rob Wright has hinted in recent weeks at his desire to recruit from outside the club.

Super Netball clubs will be allowed to start approaching out-of-contract players from rival clubs after Saturday's grand final between the Giants and Sunshine Coast Lightning.

It marks a stark contrast to last off season where six star players left the Swifts following a double-overtime loss in the ANZ Championship final against the Queensland Firebirds.

Wright's charges managed just three wins and a draw this season to finish third from bottom and 11 points adrift of the top four, but improvement is expected next year with the average age of the squad still just 22.

"We knew that 2017 would be a challenging year for us with such a young and inexperienced squad, but they even exceeded my expectations by showing they could compete with some of the world's best netballers, proving we have a great future ahead," Wright said.

"We have a long-term vision for this club and these players are vital to that.

"Having learned so much in the first year...I am really excited to see what we can achieve in 2018 having had a season under our belts.

"When you look at the defensive end I think Sarah Klau and Maddy Turner have formed a wonderful partnership.

"They know each other's game instinctively and linked really well with the likes of Maddy Proud in the midcourt whose movement and work ethic is up there with the best in the league, so I'm delighted to have them returning.

"Claire has proven herself to be one of the best young stars in the game, and no doubt will show that again for Australia at the Netball Youth World Cup in Botswana next month, while Sam not only has flair and excellent shooting ability, but amazing strength in the circle."
