But Cooma star Torah Bright's hopes of competing in PyeongChang and at her third Olympics have been crushed by a wrist injury.

Peel and Jindabyne duo Adam Lambert (snowboard cross) and Russ Henshaw (slopestyle) were named as part of Australia's 45-strong squad for the Games.

Henshaw's selection is pending a medical clearance after the 27-year-old injured his knee when he finished 16th at the Mammoth World Cup last weekend.

Bright, 31 years old and a two-time Olympic medallist, launched a last-ditch bid to prove her fitness, but fell short after an injury-riddled year.

"Cheering from the sidelines. Sadly after sustaining a few injuries I will not be able to compete at the upcoming Olympics," Bright said on Twitter on Thursday.

"Life is full of little setbacks but I'm excited about what lies ahead. Continuing to push the boundaries with snowboarding and inspiring projects."

The Australian Olympic Committee believes it has built its strongest winter Games team, led by world champions Britt Cox (moguls) and Scotty James (snowboard halfpipe).

World No. 1 snowboard cross Alex Pullin and Sochi 2014 aerials medallists Lydia Lassila and David Morris will also bolster Australia's hopes of winning a medal at a sixth consecutive winter Olympics.

Peel made her Olympic debut four years ago and is riding high after winning two bronze medals at Lake Placid.

"I competed all the jumps that I will be competing in PyeongChang in Lake Placid so doing that and finishing on the podium definitely gives me a confidence boost," Peel said.

"However I know every day is a new day and everyone will be bringing their 'A game' to the Olympics so right now it's about getting back to work and building consistency.

"It's just as exciting to be selected the second time around. I know more what to expect this time amd I think that experience will help me to really focus on the task at hand."

The aerials team trains and lives with each other throughout the year and puts a lot of their success down to the combination of strong team camaraderie and the ability to push one another to new heights.

Cox and James have continued their strong form from last season into 2017-18, with a gold and silver medal respectively in recent World Cup events.

"With respect to the two previous teams that I have been selected on, I think that this team promises so much not only in PyeongChang, but into the future," James said.

"We have many athletes doing really amazing things, who are competitive on the world stage almost every week of the season and the standard of their preparation just gets better."

Lassila, one of the 17 team members to have reached the podium during this winter season with gold and silver at a World Cup event last weekend, has been confirmed for her fifth games.

"The team is a great cross-section of sports on the winter program which is important to the Australian Olympic Committee," chef de mission Ian Chesterman said on Thursday, 15 days out from the Games.

"Having taken a really young team to Sochi, there are a number of returning Olympians who will benefit from that experience while there are also a number of Olympic debutants that are the future of their sports.

"This is the best performed team that we've taken to an Olympic Games with a large number of athletes who have established that they are amongst the very best in their sports globally."
