But it's those matches which helped Socceroos star Tom Rogic develop the silky skills and close ball control which have become his trademark.

While Tom has this year's World Cup in his sights, Adam is back in the Canberra National Premier League for the first time in five seasons having moved across to Olympic from White Eagles in the state league.

Olympic continues its Canberra NPL campaign on Saturday when it takes on Tuggeranong United at Kambah.

Adam Rogic could be taking a mid-season break if his plans come through to travel to Brazil to watch his sibling take on some of the biggest names in the world.

The Socceroos have drawn the Netherlands, Spain and Chile.

Tom Rogic cut his teeth in the Canberra NPL before going on to represent his country, get signed by Scottish giant Celtic and enjoy stints with Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne Victory in the A-League.

''We had many games in the backyard with myself, Tom and our two cousins,'' Adam Rogic said.

''They were heated games. Our parents had to say, 'Calm down guys, it's just a backyard game'.

"Tom's more of an attacking mid whereas I'm more of a traditional mid.

''Make no mistake, I'm no Tom.''

Adam Rogic hopes to go to the World Cup, and visited Tom when he was with Celtic early this year.

"The Celtic set-up and watching the Champions League games were awesome,'' he said.

"Watching Tom at the top level is the best thing ever.

"We get to matches whenever we can, and we were going to the Central Coast every second weekend when they had a home game."

Adam Rogic played for Olympic when he was 17 before he took a year out of the game after suffering meniscus damage and a cartilage tear in his knee.

He has spent the past five seasons at White Eagles, who had an incredible unbeaten streak last season before they got beaten in the knock-out semi-final.

With White Eagles unable to move up to the Premier League because they couldn't satisfy the requirements around fielding junior teams, Adam took up an offer from new Olympic coach Frank Cachia.

In the other games on Sunday, the FFA Centre of Excellence hosts Canberra City (3pm), Canberra FC will look to extend its unbeaten start to the season against Woden Valley at Deakin Stadium (2pm) and Monaro Panthers entertain Cooma Tigers at Riverside Stadium (2pm).
