Alex Oloriegbe and Stephen Domenici will look to continue their dynamic strike force when the Tigers face league champion Belconnen United at McKellar Park today, with a spot in the grand final up for grabs.
The qualifying final looms as a goalkeeper's nightmare, with three of the four players who finished tied for the league's top goal-scorer tag taking to the pitch.
Oloriegbe and Domenici netted 21 times each during the 21-game campaign - level with Belconnen United's Dustin Wells and Tuggeranong United's Mark Shields.
The Tigers retooled in the off-season in a bid to win their first grand final since 2006. Their 3.4 goals a game is the best in the league and is largely due to the combination of Oloriegbe, Domenici and veteran midfielder Alex Castro, who tails the two strikers.
''All three of us have a great chemistry,'' Domenici said. ''We all work well off each other and create lots of chances every game.
''Even if I'm a bit lazy, I can count on Alex [Oloriegbe] to work hard and score some amazing goals out of nowhere. And Alex Castro's experience has been great. He's played over 100 NSL games and he's someone who I looked up to.''
A former Young Socceroo, 20-year-old Domenici joined the Tigers this year after a frustrating seven-month stint with Italian Serie B club Vicenza, where he was unable to gain the required paperwork to allow him to play in the senior side. His arrival coincided with Oloriegbe making the switch from Woden Valley.
The 23-year-old son of a Mozambiquean father and a Nigerian mother, has played professionally in Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore before moving to Canberra at the start of last year.
''I'm not surprised by the amount of goals I've scored - this is actually one of the lowest scoring years I've had,'' he said. ''It's a vision of labour, from the goalkeeper up to myself up front. My goal-scoring was affected by a suspension I got earlier in the season and it's taken me a while to get it back.''
Oloriegbe boldly declared the Tigers had too much attacking flair for the Blue Devils to contain.
The season ledger is all square, an entertaining 2-2 draw between the two teams last week following on from each side getting a win over the other earlier in the year.
''We have too much edge over them and they know it themselves,'' Oloriegbe said. ''We can beat any team really, it doesn't matter if it's Canberra FC or Belconnen.''
The loser of today's match will face the winner of tomorrow's elimination semi-final between Canberra FC and Canberra Olympic at Deakin Stadium.
