The former Socceroo will be aiming to make it two wins from as many starts in charge when Canberra FC takes on Woden Valley at Deakin Stadium on Saturday.
Woden Valley was forced to find an alternative venue after its ground, Kaleen Enclosed, was deemed not to be up to Canberra National Premier League standards.
Canberra FC made an encouraging start under Bernal with a 3-1 victory against the competition's surprise packets Tuggeranong United last weekend.
It was his first game at the helm of Canberra FC after the axing of coach Ray Junna after just 10 games into the campaign.
Bernal will only put his hand up for the coaching role next year if he is allowed to implement the changes he wants to make.
"My aim is to change the culture and the whole mindset at the club,'' Bernal said.
''Those that don’t want to embrace it, that’s fine, see you later.
''If I can’t implement the mindset, the football culture, the whole way that we want to go about playing football at Canberra FC ... then I’ll just walk away, it’s all cool, no dramas.''
Bernal's first move was to throw a few teenagers into the mix, handing Alex Tilley and Ben van Meurs their first-grade debuts and bringing 15-year-old Daniel Subasic in as a second-half substitute.
Having played professionally in England with Reading, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town, along with stints in Italy and Spain, Bernal knows what it's like for a coach to be changed midway through a season.
''Everybody is now on notice and everybody is playing for their positions,'' Bernal said.
''It doesn’t matter who it is.
''There’s good kids coming through and there’s some good players there, we just need everyone on the same page.
''That’s what we plan to do."
Canberra FC is third on the table and can move level with the first-placed Belconnen United on 25 points if they beat Woden Valley.
The Cooma Tigers can jump to the top of the standings on 27 points when they host the Monaro Panthers on Sunday.
