Three Canberra United players have been named in the the Matildas' squad for Algarve Cup in Portugal next month, but Michelle Heyman could not overcome injury in time.
Lisa De Vanna, Emma Checker and Hayley Raso were the trio selected in coach Alen Stajcic's 21-player squad ahead of the tournament, which begins on March 1.
The Algarve Cup will be the Matildas' first international campaign since last year's Rio Games where they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by hosts Brazil.
Checker and Raso both return after time away from the national team with the former joining Sydney's Amy Harrison in overcoming an ACL injury.
"It's great that Amy has managed to come back but we've also got Emma Checker who has come back from a major injury ... they've done really well to get themselves back up to speed," said Stajcic.
Stajcic was forced to leave out Heyman as she continues to recover from an ankle injury that kept her out of the latter part of Canberra's W-League season.
"Unfortunately Michelle can't be in line for selection as she hasn't recovered quickly enough, but to have a number of players on the verge of coming back to full fitness makes it even more exciting about how this team is going to be," Stajcic said.
The squad will assemble in Sydney's west for a three-day training camp on Monday prior to departing for Portugal on Wednesday night.
Currently 6th in the FIFA women's world rankings, the Matildas have been pooled with Sweden (8th), Netherlands (12th) and China (13th).
