Rogic returns to the Socceroos squad for the first time in more than 12 months for the upcoming matches against Bangladesh and Tajikistan in September.

Postecoglou has also brought back Asian Cup heroes Robbie Kruse and Massimo Luongo, while Jackson Irvine and uncapped goalkeeper Alex Cisak are among the other inclusions in the 23-man squad.

It's Rogic's first involvement with the national team since he was ruled out of the 2014 World Cup through injury, having proven his fitness with his Scottish club Celtic.

Postecoglou said Rogic's selection was about him becoming comfortable in the national set-up.

"There's no doubt he's an outstanding talent, but we don't have great expectations at the moment," Postecoglou said.

"We want to bring him into the environment, get him involved in the way we play and the way we do things, so when he's up and running and playing regularly, he can add to what we're doing.

"The attacking part of the field is still a part where we're trying to get players in who are playing regularly.

"We need more depth in those areas and Tommy will certainly add that."

Having struggled with a persistent groin injury for the past 18 months, Rogic has burst back to form with Celtic in the Scottish Premier League, scoring his first goal for the club earlier this month.

While he returned to the bench for Celtic's 4-2 win over Inverness on the weekend, Rogic has shown why he has been regarded as one of Australia's most exciting prospects.

The 22-year-old has been limited to just nine caps for his country since debuting in 2012.

Postecoglou said he hadn't spoken with Rogic, but was encouraged with his progress after talks with Celtic officials.

"The reports we have is that he's doing everything, he feels good about himself and I'm sure being amongst the national team will help him further," Postecoglou said.

"When he heads back to Celtic after this camp, he can push on and play regular football for them.

"We'll hopefully give him some game time in these two games, but certainly there won't be massive expectations about him playing a massive role."

Another youngster on the rise is Irvine, who has thrived in the SPL since moving to Ross County from Celtic, while Cisak, 26, gets his chance through injuries to Mitch Langerak and Eugene Galekovic.

Cisak is playing for Leyton Orient in League Two in England.

"The number one thing is they have started their seasons pretty strongly," Postecoglou said.

"Jackson has been in our system for a while now with the 20s and the Olyroos and we're pretty keen to making sure all those teams are closely aligned.

"I've watched Jackson's first two games in the SPL and he's been really good.

"For Cisak, it's great to give a guy an opportunity who has been on the fringes for a while."

The Socceroos will be overwhelming favourites to make it a perfect two from two in the first stage of World Cup qualifying when they face Bangladesh in Perth on September 3 before travelling to Tajikistan on September 8.

"It is what it is, it's a World Cup qualifier," Postecoglou said.

"From our perspective, we're at home, we're expected to win and that will be our attitude regardless of who we're playing.

"Every away game is going to be tricky regardless of the opponent, so it means that at home you've got to be dominant."
