Exarhos has a remarkable winning record as a step-in coach which he took to eight wins from nine games with a 3-1 victory over Canberra City at O'Connor yesterday.
''I seem to be riding a bit of luck,'' Exarhos said. ''You can't do it without the lads, and this team that I've got … I think they're good enough to win the league.''
''We really need to just get a bit of consistency about us, I think the win against [Canberra FC] shows we can win against anyone.
''When it comes to putting two or three together, just building some momentum and putting some confidence together, we seem to be lacking a little bit. I think if we can make that top four, we can really do some damage.''
Olympic showed devastating form, dominating the first half with Oliver Wiederkehr and Hristijan Tanoski taking it to a 2-0 lead at the break.
Its defence, including Nathen Megic, fresh from a four-day camp with Nike's The Chance scouts, was particularly good, not allowing the visitors to take a single shot.
City, under the guidance of Nick Palagyi, put in a disappointing first half. ''We let ourselves down,'' Palagyi said. ''We made far too many mistakes and errors, turned the ball over and just gifted them with attacking opportunities.''
City scored in the second half from a terrific corner kick from Marcial Munoz. Up for debate in the City changeroom was whether or not Munoz's kick touched the boot of Sam McDonald on its way into the net. The goal was not enough for City, with Victor Yanes adding to Olympic's tally in the 81st minute.
The loss made a top-four spot seem unlikely for City.
''You never give up hope but we've got a hell of a long way to go and we need a lot of results to go our way,'' Palagyi said
''We've still got another seven or eight matches to go - we're certainly not giving up on the year, we'll keep on fighting until that last game.''
In other games yesterday, Canberra FC beat Tuggeranong United 2-1, and Woden Valley accounted for the Monaro Panthers 4-1.
