Sky Sports News tricked into airing Shay Given impersonator

English broadcaster Sky Sports News was fooled on Sunday night (local time) when presenter Pete Graves held a telephone interview with a person the production team believed to be Stoke City goalkeeper Shay Given.

The team were discussing the injury endured by England's Jack Butland in their 3-2 victory over Germany on Saturday night, when 'Shay' called in to express his thoughts on his teammate's unfortunate circumstances.

The 24-hour sports news channel was attempting to get Given's reaction, but instead of putting through the man with 133 Republic of Ireland caps to his name, a high pitched prankster was sent live instead.

The caller was more than happy to put on his best Irish twang and express that it was an "absolutely massive blow".

Graves speedily put a stop to the interview.

Stoke's number one fractured his ankle during the friendly match over the weekend which has ended his Euro 2016 chances.

With the 23-year-old sidelined, Given's own chances of getting along to the tournament could be given a lifeline if he gets an extended run in Mark Hughes' side.

He was quick however to send his support to his young team-mate.
