    Live: Roar v Wanderers

The Wanderers make it three from three against the Roar this season, flying back into this game at Suncorp Stadium with a pair of goals in the second half to heap more misery on the home side. Western Sydney now safely into the top four and the Roar must traverse a very, very long road if they want to make the finals.

FULLTIME Western Sydney Wanderers 2 Brisbane Roar 1.

90th min Ono? No. Was lingering in front of goal but couldn't make it count. The Wanderers are going to win this barring a miracle, of which the Roar have delivered a few over the years but don't look the same side,

89th min Broich on the turn! Well saved by Covic - it had some quality about it. Wanderers still lead 2-1. What a second half from the visitors and they are going to entrench themselves in the top four. The Roar have a must-win game. In Perth. Without Berisha or Stefanutto or Smith. Gulp.

85th min Aaron Mooy preferred for the free kick over Ono. May wish they had that one back again. Bit of a shocker as it flies miles above the goal. No change to the score as the Wanderers keep a 2-1 lead. This might put the nail into the Roar coffin for 2013.

81st min Broich is back minus a few litres of claret and he presses forward to cross into the Wanderers box. Covic safely dives on that one but the tension really rising here. You get the feeling the Roar know this might be their final throw of the dice in terms of getting their season back on track. They trail 2-1 after leading 1-0 at halftime, may not get a point out of this one.

78th min Changes on the way for the Roar. Corey Brown and Julius Doe, a pair of teens who quite honestly look like they could be playing at a schoolboy carnival. But they have a very grown-up task ahead of them to pin back this Wanderers side, who struck twice in a row to earn a 2-1 lead.

74th min The conjecture over that goal was the role of Ono. He was clearly offside - not disputed - so the question is how much of a factor he was in the play. The referee ruled he played no further part. Roar players saying he demanded a defender and allowed Hersi the extra room. Matters little - goal stands, Roar stunned, Berisha's body temperature now up to 96 degrees. Now Broich laid out - blood raining from the nose after the clash with Polenz. He's off for running repairs. Wanderers lead 2-1.

70th min Now Berisha gets a yellow card for, er, appealing the decision. He's losing the plot a bit here. Oh I love this bit. Berisha will miss next week for accumulation of yellow cards. He's still mouthing off to the ref and Stefanutto has been told to calm things down. And now a yellow card for that very man Stefanutto. That's his fifth! They will both miss the match against Perth next week. I told you stuff was happening. Wanderers lead 2-1.

68th min Just over 11,000 fans here today. It's not exactly a grand final atmosphere but they're getting a good show in this second half from both sides. Covic swallows that one to foil another Roar raid and they haven't been too shocked by conceding that Bridge goal. And another now! Brilliant stuff from the Wanderers! GOAL to Youssouf Hersi. Question about the offside but it counts. Wanderers 2 Roar 1.

65th min GOAL to the Wanderers. Bridge hits it low and hard and Michael Theo has been caught napping there. Dives but it's too late and that goal has come from absolutely nothing. Bridge sat on the edge of the box, nobody came out to pressure and he helped himself. It's 1-1.

60th min Bratten on the counter.... sails wide! Good strike from the youngster but didn't quite have the class to execute the finish on the move. For all of Brisbane's faults this season, they aren't the kind of side to camp out on a lead. Now Nichols and Broich exchanging words after a communication failure. Roar up 1-0. Stuff happening. Stay tuned.

55th min Berisha.... close! Made some inroads but his cross was too heavy and sailed across the face before anyone from either side could get a touch. No change as the Roar hold on to the 1-0 lead. But this game has opened up dramatically.

53rd min George Lambadaridis on for Bratten as Mike Mulvey, who still sounds to me like a character from Neighbours, wants fresh feet out there. Not a bad idea for an early sub in this humidity, which I can confirm can be draining. I had to walk at least 100m from the car to the press box and it almost did me in. Bridge went close for the Wanderers as well. They're back baby.

51st min Haliti! Great turn and even better strike. Showed a clean pair of heels but his shot across the face didn't go. Had Theo on ice there but it kissed the crossbar as it went over the top. Much, much better start here for the Wanderers and now it's the Roar's turn to hang in for dear life. Brisbane still lead 1-0.

48th min A corner now for the Wanderers as they get stuck in to start the second half. A little bit of concern for Shane Seffanuto but the Roar veteran is back in the line-up to defend this set piece. Cleared by the orange defenders and then Poljak drifts offside.

46th min Play has resumed here at Suncorp as the Wanderers get about chasing this 1-0 deficit. Ono tries his luck to at least show a bit of attacking intent but Theo covers it with ease.

HALFTIME Roar 1 Wanderers 0. A 23rd minute goal from Mitch Nichols the difference and Tony Popovic has some thinking to do at the break if he wants to get a flat Wanderers back in the contest.

42nd min I don't think many people expected an effort like this for Brisbane in the first half. Whether they can close it out remains to be seen but it's a step in the right direction thus far. The Wanderers haven't turned up. When they break out, it's with limited numbers and on the whole has been easily dealt with by Brisbane. Boy they'd love to sneak one against the run of play before the break. Roar lead 1-0.

38th min Haliti again in a likely sort of spot but no love. The Roar defending well and breaking out now with Nichols, then Berisha. But Polenze shepherds him off the chase and the Roar win a corner. Berisha has a shot, rebounds and the Wanderers clear. Roar lead 1-0.

32nd min The Wanderers need to finish this half with some intent. Haliti gets a good possie in the box there but the ball in floats well over his head. That's fairly lazy looking stuff from the Wanderers, who are unusually lethargic in this first half. It's reflected in the score - Brisbane lead 1-0.

28th min Bratten in good shape again but no power at all on the shot as it sails wide. Troubling times for the Wanderers, who aren't getting to their man quickly enough. They are lucky the Roar haven't got a genuine gunner who can smash a few of those home. The Wanderers are looking for a surge of energy from someone. Polenz tries his luck from 35m away. No dice. Roar lead 1-0.

23rd min Luke Bratten was the man who fed Nichols there. Nichols made a good turn and poked it past the diving Covic. That's the start Brisbane were so desperate to get. Let's see if they can maintain this sort of intensity.

20th min Murdocca launches a tame shot on goal and Covic makes a nice cup of tea by the time it arrives in his hands. Ono working on Donachie in the opposite corner but can't get past the youngster. The temp dropping just a little now so the players will enjoy the break in the heat. But now the Roar get a break on the scoreboard. GOAL to Mitch Nichols! Roar go up 1-0.

17th min Good look from Broich! The Roar pressing once more and he finds himself on the edge of the box, shuffling from the right to the left and having a ping. It went high and he probably should have forced a save from that sort of range. Then Hersi can't get a handle from an Ono ball up the other end. Entertaining stuff with no movement on the scoreboard.

12th min Broich curls in the corner for the Roar but Covic gets the spoil, as they might say in the AFL, and it's punched clear. A lot to like about the Roar's start here - playing like a side that knows it is right on the edge. Western Sydney making sure they have numbers back to defend and haven't been particularly worried just yet. Some possession through midfield will settle them. No score.

5th min No shades of grey for the Roar at home. Three wins, four losses, no draws. The Roar having the best of the early exchanges but Ono released there by Haliti. Didn't quite have the zip to get there and Theo comes out to clear for the Roar. No score as yet at Suncorp.

2nd min Bright sun over half the ground as we get started here and already some decent ball for the home side. But they look jittery in front of goal and tend to search Broich out even when he isn't required. The Roar need something inspired today as Mitch Nichols pulls the trigger from distance. Flies over the top but good intent. No score thus far.

4.02pm A few changes for the Roar, with Erik Paartalu - the former grand final hero - leaving the club to play in China. Matt Smith is out, with Matt Jurman out. Nick Fitzgerald has also been left out with Mass Murdocca starting. It's not a settled club any stretch at the moment but winning helps. WS have been rock solid and will start deserved favourites this afternoon.

3.46pm Good afternoon everybody. If you are tuning out of the cricket and have gone off the tennis since John Millman's departure, feel free to log on to this game from Brisbane as the Roar host the Wanderers. The Wanderers find themselves in the top four with eight wins this season, while Brisbane are one off the bottom. The twice-defending champs need to get motoring if they are even going to feature in the post-season.
