Thanks everyone for following our blog tonight. Hope you enjoyed it. Make sure you grab The Sun Herald tomorrow to read with your breakfast. Daniel Lane was our man at the ground and he'll be writing all about the reactions from the people who matter.
It's all over and what a fantastic win by Melbourne Victory. A goal in each half, the first an own goal by Michael Beauchamp, the second by Archie Thompson. It was a performance of utmost professionalism with the side spending over an hour with just 10 men after defender Sam Gallagher was marched early on. The performance was spearheaded by Thompson and Marco Rojas up front, but all contributed.
Simply, the Wanderers never looked like they had a man's advantage. They have defended well this season but were caught on the counter. Up front, they remain rudderless, with little potency and purpose. The effort was there, the execution far off.
93m: Kresinger heads just wide now. Was a good header.
91m: Three minutes of injury time now. Melbourne should celebrate this win big time. Just a great all round performance.
90m: Bridge gets a golden chance! No one on him and he blasts it over the bar from just a few metres out!! Unbelievable!!!!!
89m: You sense that the Sydney team just wants this horrible game to end.
87m: Mooy has a drive from 30 metres. Clear indication of how it's all gone for the Wanderers tonight. No way through the Melbourne defense.
86m: Wanderer D'Apuzzo into Ben Williams' yellow card book.
There you go, the Wanderers have been into the Victory penalty area 29 times! Nothing to show for it!!
Broxham has come on for Rojas. Great game by Rojas.
82m: The game is slowing down now, as the Victory starting to get behind the ball and starving the Wanderers further.
77m: At the other end, Rojas has a shot but it goes just wide. Great skill to make space with two defenders on him.
76m: Polenz has a good shot at goal. Coe tips it over the bar. Another corner for the Wanderers. Kresinger gets his head to it but it goes wide. Goal kick.
74m: Now Ben Williams gives goalkeeper Coe a yellow for time wasting. Big night for the ref!!
73m: Shot for Bridge! Deflected just wide of the post!! Corner. It drops for Trifiro who thumps it just wide again!!! Just not happening for the Wanderers.
72m: Wanderers with possession the past few minutes, but hardly able to do anything with it.
60m: Ono takes the free kick and it's a good one, but no one's there to meet it for the Wanderers.
59m: Now Traore gets booked, fouled Polenz.
58m: And the "Archie's a wanker" chant goes up.
56m: Archie Thompson shown a yellow card for diving! Well well....... All respect to Archie, but we don't want to see diving, thanks very much.
A change made by each coach now. Gibbs on for Cole for the Wanderers. Cernak on for Finkler for the Victory.
9,614 in attendance at Parramatta Stadium.
54m: Mooy has a shot from range for the Wanderers. No problems for Coe, who gets down to it well.
Wow! What a situation forthe Wanderers to find themselves in. They are getting drilled by a 10-man team!
GOAL TO THE VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Archie!!!!!!!! Celeski puts Rojas away and Rojas has so much space! He crosses low to Thompson. The ball is slightly deflected off Topor-Stanley but still gets to Thompson, who buries it past hte goalkeeper. BRILLIANT PLAY BY MELBOURNE!! THAT MAKES IT 2-0!!
54m: Marco Rojas weaves through the defence but gets a weak shot away. No problem for Covic. Amazing that the 10 men of Melbourne are making it look like 11 v 11.
52m: Good shot by Shannon Cole there for the Wanderers. A nice curling left foot shot goes just over the far end of the crossbar. Looks like the only way the Wanderers are going to score is from long range.
49m: Victory dodges a bullet there with an appeal for penalty turned down. Seemed like Traore had his arms raised in blocking the cross.
Jason Trifiro on for Iacopo La Rocca for the Wanderers. Victory no changes.
Welcome back!! The players are out there, ready to for the second half to start. Will check for changes now... One tick.
It's half time at Parramatta Stadium with the Victory leading 1-0. What a fascinating half of football. It all looked so poor for Melbourne Victory when the young defender Sam Gallagher was marched by referee Ben Williams early on. There will be discussions this week over whether Gallagher was indeed fouled first by Dino Kresinger.
Nevertheless, the Wanderers, despite their one man advantage, hardly looked threatening as they approached the final stages of their attacks, with Mark Bridge and friends fumbling about up front.
Meantime, the Victory looked to counter attack, with Flores and Thompson always threatening. And so it came to be when, nearing the break, a shot by Guil Finkler was deflected by Michael Beauchamp into the Wanderers' goal.
We'll be back soon for the second half action.
GOAL FOR VICTORY!!! It's an own goal. Finkler runs at pace at Ono, gets a low, hard shot away and it's deflected by Michael Beauchamp into the back of the net!!! Great reward for Melbourne Victory!!
43m: Great skill there too from Rojas, gets around D'Apuzzo on the wing.
42m: Is Adama Traore the best fullback in the A-League, or what? Brilliant skills.
40m: We're getting to the final stages of the half and Melbourne still pressing when possible. A shot there goes way wide and the Wanderers move upfield again.
Must clarify, I'd hate to be a ref. Toughest job in football and I admire their courage. But jeez ......
38m: Now, at the other end, Ono has a free kick which just goes over the bar. A bit of controversy over the refereeing. I hate having to say it, but refs play such a big role in football. Got to be consistent.
36m: Finkler clattered there! But no foul given or yellow given! Weird. Ben Williams played the advantage, but there was such little advantage there. Should have called the foul. Was in good position there for Melbourne.
35m: Shannon Cole offside there. Wanderers have good field position generally but not looking all that dangerous in the zone. Victory likely to keep trying to counter attack tonight, given their predicament.
Now the Victory's Billy Celeski gets a yellow card! Brought down Ono.
33m: Wanderers attack breaks down and the Victory stream away quickly. Thompson and Rojas on the counter. It comes to little, but shows that the Wanderers can't relax with their one man advantage.
Andrew Nabbout is the man to be sacrificed in order for the Victory to keep their defense in shape. What a shame. Nabbout's been great since he burst onto the scene recently.
25m: Kevin Muscat has summoned Jonathan Bru from the bench, as the Wanderers work upfield again.
23m: Corner now for Wanderers. Ono's cross is headed away nicely by Mark Milligan. Looks like it'll be a long night for the Victory defense.
22m: A header from Mark Bridge, saved by Nathan Coe!
16m: Ono's free kick goes just wide of the goalkeeper's right post, for a goalkick.
You have to feel sorry for the young fella. He might have been fouled first.
15m: Gallagher is sent off!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ben Williams marches the debutant! The defender grabbed Kresinger by the arm and brought down the attacking player. Williams probably had no choice. There was no one between them and the goal. Free kick just outside the area.
13m: Rojas stings one across the face of goal for the Victory. Thompson isn't there to meet it. Probably didn't really get a chance to get into position. Dangerous move from the visitors.
12m: Aaron Mooy has a shot blocked at the top of the penalty area, as the Wanderers press.
10m: Shinji Ono has another shot! Coe has no problems holding it though.
9m: Tussles in midfield now as the teams feel each other out. (love that sporting term).
5m: Finkler takes a short corner for the Victory, but the build up comes to nothing.
3m: Ono has a looooong range dig for the Wanderers - like, from half way, - with goalkeeper Coe off his line. The 'keeper mostly untroubled in the end.
1m: And we're off! Wanderers probing early.
Get set! We're a couple of minutes from kick off in the first meeting between the Wanderers and the Victory.
Join David Sygall from 7.45pm as the Wanderers seek their fourth win of the season.
Evenin' folks! Looking forward to this one. Perhaps the most impressive defence in the league against probably the most potent attack. Word is that there are huge queues of people waiting to get into Parramatta Stadium, the pitch looks a treat and it's a perfect Sydney night for football. A few minutes away from kick off.
Inclusions for Wanderers: Ono and Cole.
Inclusions for Victory: Thompson, Finkler and a full debut for Sam Gallagher. Good luck!
