An Adam Taggart brace handed Newcastle Jets their finest win of the A-League season, a 2-1 victory over Brisbane Roar at Hunter Stadium on Sunday.
The Roar led 1-0 after a dominant first-half performance and a 39th minute goal through Luke Brattan.
But in driving rain on a sodden field the home side finished by far the stronger with 51st and 74th minute goals to Taggart in the round six fixture.

The scoreline could have been even greater in the Jets' favour but Nathan Burns missed a 63rd minute penalty after a Jade North handball.
But Taggart made no mistake, after Burns threaded a delightful through ball to him to create the equaliser, and then again after a James Donachie error at the back allowed him the time and space to fire home a left footed winner.
Despite the chilly atrocious conditions, Taggart ripped off his shirt in jubilation after putting Newcastle ahead to a raucous reception from the small but hearty crowd of 7,692 fans.
The Jets' win, which was soured by a red card to Kew Jaliens for dissent in the 88th minute, means the Roar have surrendered top spot on the A-League ladder to Western Sydney Wanderers.
In conditions that deteriorated as the first half progressed, Newcastle, with former England striker Emile Heskey watching on as a substitute, could not manage a single shot on goal in the first 45 minutes in a worrying effort for coach Gary van Egmond.
Brisbane were on target only twice, the first came in the 31st minute when Scott Neville blocked a shot from Brattan.
The Roar made the most of their second chance when, moments after Brisbane goalkeeper Michael Theo had collected a cross from Jaliens, Brattan found the back of the net in 39th minute on the back of an error from Jets' gloveman Mark Birighitti.
Birighitti punched the ball straight into the path of Brattan just outside the box and he made no mistake to hammer the ball home and put the visitors ahead 1-0, a lead they enjoyed at halftime.
