Rogic rejoins Scottish club Celtic this weekend after spending the past two weeks in Canberra catching up with family and friends as he continues his recovery from a persistent groin injury.

One of the brightest talents in the country, the 21-year-old was forced to return home early from Brazil after breaking down during a warm-up game for the Socceroos. Rogic had a second operation to repair his injured groin last month, ruling him out of the Asian Cup to be held in Australia in January.

He said he was relieved to have the problem fixed and hoped to return early in the new year.

"I'm still young, I'm at the start of my career," he said. "Of course, you get concerned, it's a serious injury, but at the same time I'm confident I'll be back to where I want to be and we'll have no issues in my body going forward and be able to kick on with my career.

"As tough a time as it is, I'm still confident with where I'm going."

Rogic's career had been on a quick ascent before the injuries struck.

His career took off when he was one of eight winners worldwide of Nike's The Chance competition in 2011. He made his debut in the A-League with the Central Coast Mariners in 2012, going on to represent the Socceroos later that year.

He signed a four-year contract with Celtic in January last year, but has started just four games in his 15 top grade appearances for the club.

Despite calls for him to consider a move, the latest coming from Canberra great Ned Zelic this week, Rogic said he was committed to Celtic.

"I'm not thinking too far ahead, just taking my rehab step by step and the club has been very good to me," he said.

"They have supported me through this. We'll play it by ear when I'm back on the pitch."

Rogic did his best to push through a persistent groin issue to make the World Cup, but aggravated the injury again during a warm-up game against a local Brazilian side.

"It was pretty clear I couldn't get about the pitch as I had hoped to," he said..

"I knew within myself straightaway that it wasn't going to happen and I wasn't going to make it through.

"I have no regrets, I did everything I could do to make it there and to be as fit as I could.

"The World Cup was the big one to miss through injury, now the Asian Cup. It's a tough time, but there's not a lot I can do. Try and look at the positives, cop it on the chin and just sort of deal with it.

"As tough a time as it is, I know I'll be okay coming out the other end of it and learning a bit more about myself and a bit more experienced in these situations."

Rogic remains optimistic about the Socceroos' chances at the Asian Cup despite several disappointing results, most recently this week's 1-0 loss to Qatar and scoreless draw with the United Arab Emirates.

"You want to be winning games no matter if they're friendlies or competitive matches, but I think a lot of players gained a lot of experience in friendlies and that's a positive moving forward," he said.

"If there's ever a time to have these sort of results, it's now. Hopefully come January the team's firing and can have a really successful tournament."
