Godwin is a powerful inside-centre who can also play as the primary playmaker and will be a valuable replacement for Matt Toomua, who is linking with English club Leicester.

The former West Australian and Australian schoolboy representative was included in the Wallabies squad ahead of the South African match this weekend and said he had made the move hoping to "develop my game around some amazing players".

At 24, Godwin said he is ready to take his rugby to the next level.

"The opportunity to be coached by Stephen Larkham, who played in a position similar to me, was definitely another reason for the decision," he said.

"To be able to link with the current Australian conference champion is something I am extremely grateful for and I'm really looking forward to this next chapter of my career at the Brumbies.

"I'm happy to play wherever Larkham wants me to play, but obviously I love playing in the inside backs so at 10 or 12 is definitely my thing, but I'm always happy to step in to the 13 position as well."

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham is with Godwin in the Wallabies training camp and is looking forward to having the bulky centre add a new dimension to the backline.

"He wants to take his game to a new level and believes the move can help him do that," Larkham said.

"He's played 52 Super Rugby matches for the Force and has developed into an international-standard player in that time."

Larkham said Godwin's ability to set-up play and break the lines through raw power will be an asset to the Brumbies.

"We were looking for someone who has strengths in both attack and defence," he said.

"Kyle possesses those skills as well as great game vision and a powerful running game. It will be an exciting time for us when he joins our backline next season."

As well as being a member of the Australian schoolboy team who beat New Zealand in 2009, Godwin was an under 20 national representative and has been honoured several times at the Force, winning their most outstanding player, members' most valuable player award and rising star award.

Godwin plays in the National Rugby Championship with the NSW Country Eagles and will begin pre-season training with the Brumbies later this year in Canberra.
