Canberra duo Ashley Keir and Nick Kyrgios have forced their way into the semi-finals of the Australian under-18s championships at Melbourne Park.

Keir beat Belinda Woolcock 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 on Friday, while Kyrgios had an easier passage, beating Blake Mott in straight sets 6-3, 7-5. The pair are now just two wins away from earning a wildcard spot in next week's qualifying rounds for the senior Australian Open. Sixth-seeded Keir will face the top seed, Azra Hadzic, on Saturday.

The top-seeded Kyrgios will meet unseeded Jay Andrijic. They'll also face each other in the semi-finals of the doubles. Kyrgios partners Bradley Mousley, while Andrijic will join Jordan Thompson.

Kyrgios, 17, has had a sensational year, winning the junior boys' doubles titles at Wimbledon and the French Open, and making the singles quarter-finals at the US Open and Wimbledon.
