Nick Kyrgios pulled out of the Brisbane International with a right shoulder injury on Monday night, putting his Australian Open hopes at risk.
The Canberra teenager was to begin his Brisbane campaign with a round-one assignment against in-form countryman Matt Ebden on Tuesday. Kyrgios also made a late withdrawal from the Australian Open play-offs at the start of December with an elbow injury.
The world No.182 was a near certainty to be given wildcard into the Australian Open but with wildcards being announced later this week, that now looks unlikley.
