  • Is it legal for one player to request the other player to stop grunting, shrieking and screaming because it is annoying them and affecting their level of play??

    • One down one to go. Now for the whistler Azarenka to follow suit. Would never pay to see a match with any of these grunters in them.

        • Sharipova for someone so tall is an incredibly average server. Love watching Na Li go about her stuff so pleasant so polite such a competitor - has to be favourite for the final on Saturday

              • Garbage comment oddjob. I've been watching tennis for a hell of a lot longer than 20 years and hate this shrieking gamesmanship/cheating. Azarenka has no respect for her opponents or the public who pay good money for their tickets. Because a minority of players have been getting away with it for years doesn't make it right. It just means the game's administrators are gutless. It's time those administrators and the players stood up to these prima donnas

            • Looks like Azarenka has cornered the market on VOICE BOX STEROIDS.
This pair of officially condoned cheats put Lance Armstrong and Cycling to shame.

              • That's the worst example of sportsman ship I have ever seen .. Azarenka taking a medial break because Stevens was getting on top of her ... Shame on you .. I hate the screaming and make people dislike you and want you to loose

                • The unfortunate thing is these up and coming players will learn to rort the system as the older ones do - this was a clear example of rorting the system - and it worked and there is no penalty so she will continue to do so.

              • I thought they were to do something about the grunting. They can adjust the service game or any shots that aren't working for them they can do the same with their noises. It really bugs me I have to watch something else, when I like the tennis...Stop the Eastern European's being taught this type of play. Other top players do not have to do this.... Put a gag on them please...

                • Well, when Connors was grunting at one end and McEnroe was shrieking and screaming at the other - who would have asked whom to stop? The many male players who grunt so loudly today have just followed in their footsteps.

Honestly, if the noises made by the players bothers you - turn your TV volume down! If you actually attended the tennis in person, you'd find that the noise is much less noticeable - it dissipates signficantly in the open air of the arena, but the TV microphones seem to magnify it.
