But Woodbridge admitted Kyrgios might have to wait to play in his home grand slam event despite the teenager playing at the French and US opens this year.
Kyrgios has recovered from an elbow injury and is preparing for a potential clash with former Australian Davis Cup star Sandon Stolle at North Woden on Saturday.
Kyrgios will play for the Canberra Velocity in the Asia-Pacific Tennis League.
He has a wildcard for the Brisbane International in January and could take on his idol, Roger Federer.
Kyrgios, an Australian Open boys champion, is one of the leading contenders for a wildcard at the men's event next year.
''What I've seen from Nick this year has been some of the most impressive tennis of any young player in the world,'' Woodbridge said. ''I watched him at the US Open … with the exception of Bernard Tomic, it's the best I've seen of any young Aussie in 15 years and that's exciting.
''He's got an X-factor, he's got a difference in his game and that will make him a real contender. There's no guarantee he'll get a wildcard for the Australian Open, but he's right in there and he's done everything right.''
Kyrgios headlines a bumper ''festival of tennis'' in Canberra this weekend.
The Velocity men's and women's teams will play on Saturday and Sunday at the newly renovated North Woden courts.
But the Australian Open blitz will also be in Canberra, giving players of all abilities a chance to win prizes and have an Australian Open star represent Canberra next year.
The men's and women's Australian Open trophies will be on show as well as the Hot Shots competition for children, speed serving competitions and cardio and fitness tennis.
The Velocity team of Kyrgios, Alex Bolt, Jake Eames, James Frawley, and former players Alun Jones and Todd Larkham will play against the Stanmore Wyverns, led by former world No.1 junior Todd Reid.
The men's team will then play Macquarie Uni Warriors on Sunday. The Velocity women's team will play City Lizards on Saturday and Sydney Uni Lions on Sunday.
