Canberra star Nick Kyrgios will draw on the experience of training with tennis legend Roger Federer when he gets a crack at his second French Open later this month.

Kyrgios and junior star Ashleigh Barty have been awarded wildcards to the tournament from May 25 to June 8.

Kyrgios used the French Open last year to announce himself on the world stage, beating former world No 8 Radek Stepanek in his Grand Slam debut.

A year ago he was too nervous to share the Roland Garros change rooms with 17-time Grand Slam winner Federer.

But in an indication of how far he has come in the past 12 months, Federer invited the 19-year-old to Zurich last week for private training sessions.

Federer is ranked No.4 in the world while Kyrgios' successful return from injury has lifted him to No.159.

Kyrgios bounced back from an elbow injury to win back to back Challenger tournaments in the United States before traveling to Europe to start preparations for the French Open and Wimbledon.
