To celebrate the launch of the Canberra suburb in his name, the Suburban Land Agency is holding an exclusive movie event. And not just any movie event.
Patrons will be able to lie back on queen-sized beds to watch the 1980s classic The Goonies. All on the manicured East Lawns off King Edward Terrace in the Parliamentary Zone. You might event want to slip into your PJs and slippers for the event.
The outdoor movie night will be held on Saturday, November 16.
To get your hand on a ticket, you need to enter the Feels Like Home competition. There are 130 cinema bed entry tickets up for grabs which include free popcorn and soft drinks. The event is being staged by Mov'in Bed. You must be 18 to enter the competition but all ages are welcome at the event. To enter go to movienight.suburbanland.act.gov.au.
The Suburban Land Agency is constructing Whitlam with the first public release of blocks for approximately 80 dwellings set for early 2020. When fully developed, the suburb will comprise around 2100 dwellings and be home to around 5000 people. Whitlam is the first suburb in the Molonglo Valley to be built north of the Molonglo River.
"We are committed to creating great places where communities thrive and Whitlam exemplifies the Canberra lifestyle. It's close to nature, close to the city and well suited to an active lifestyle," the agency's CEO John Dietz said.
