NSW Police appealed for information on Tuesday morning after a man allegedly walked into a shop on Gibraltar Street in Bungendore about 5.05pm on Monday and threatened the 75-year-old employee with a knife. She was not injured.
Police said the alleged armed robber was involved in a short struggle with the woman before he grabbed the cash register and ran from the shop.
The man drove away in a silver single-cab four-wheel-drive utility with a black metal tray. The number plates attached to the vehicle, with NSW registration CU41CL, are allegedly stolen.
NSW Police spotted the vehicle on the Kings Highway at Queanbeyan and started a pursuit, but officers terminated the pursuit and the vehicle was last seen entering the ACT.
Investigators are appealing for any witnesses, including people who were travelling on the Kings Highway towards Queanbeyan about 5.20pm on Monday and may have dash cam footage, to contact Bungendore Police Station on 6238 1244.
