A woman has died after being dragged from the water unconscious on the NSW Mid North Coast.

The 73-year-old woman was swimming at South Valla Beach, south of Coffs Harbour, about 5pm on Saturday when she appeared to suffer a medical episode, police were told.
Paramedics attempted to revive the woman but she died at the scene.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
