Daydream Island resort for sale
Daydream Island is up for grabs.
Another Queensland island resort is up for sale, with the owner of Daydream Island signalling his intention to retire.
Vaughan Bullivant, 65, who has owned the 296-room resort and spa since 2000, said the recent sales of Lindeman, Bedarra and Dunk Islands suggested that there was strong investor interest in such properties.
‘‘I intend to make sure that Daydream remains an industry leader and am looking for a suitable operator to take Daydream Island forward,’’ he said on Thursday.
‘‘We will be conducting a comprehensive review of any forthcoming offers to ensure the future of the resort is secure.’’
Mr Bullivant said the island would remain open while it was on the market. He reportedly paid about $25 million for the island more than a decade ago and has since spent close to $50 million, according to the Australian Financial Review.
CBRE Hotels Brisbane’s senior director Wayne Bunz has been enlisted to sell the resort, calling for expressions of interest by noon on March 14, 2013.
