BEST WESTERN PREMIER has opened a resort on Vietnam's Hon Tam Island, in the South China Sea near Nha Trang, about halfway between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
The island is a 15-minute boat ride from Nha Trang's Cau Da port and the resort has 49 low-rise traditional-style bungalows, including family-size spaces that have a living room and adjoining bedrooms. Bungalows have flat-screen televisions, wi-fi, bathtubs and separate showers.
The resort has a swimming pool, spa, gym, and the essential holiday activity for some — a karaoke room. It's Best Western's fifth property in Vietnam, and the second in its "premier" category.

Home sweet homestead
WILD BUSH LUXURY'S semi-permanent camps on the Arkaba Walk in South Australia's Flinders Ranges could hardly be described as spartan. The camps have hot showers and comfy beds, and premium wines are served to guests.
M?venpick Hotel, Paris Neuilly.
Nevertheless, an additional layer of comfort has been added to the final night of the company's signature three-night trek, with guests bedding down at the privately owned Arkaba Homestead. The homestead dates to 1851 and has a library with leather armchairs and a dining terrace.

THE hamlet of Ahangama on Sri Lanka's south coast, perhaps best known for its mesmerising stilt fishermen, is now home to Mosvold Villa, courtesy of the Jetwing hotel group's move into boutique accommodation.
The villa's six suites, all with views of the Indian Ocean, are at ground level. The adjoining restaurant specialises in local seafood dishes such as marinated cuttlefish, grilled Cajun spiced seer fish with mango coriander chutney, and pan-roasted tuna. From Colombo Airport, Ahangama is about a 90-minute drive on the freeway or a 3½-hour drive via the coast road.
Jetwing's other boutique oceanfront properties include a four-bedroom beachhouse at Kosgoda, between Colombo and Galle, and a 32-suite hotel near the town of Wadduwa. The latter property has an infinity pool and hosts a traditional ayurvedic spa.
Rooms at Mosvold cost from $200 a night, including breakfast. See jetwinghotels.com.

For business travellers, the hotel has a free "tuk-tuk" transport service around the area's "golden business triangle". The Movenpick Hotel Paris Neuilly is on Boulevard Victor Hugo.
Rooms from €159 ($200) a night, including breakfast. See movenpick-hotels.com.
