A man who used a gun for a carjacking in Preston remains on the loose after fleeing through a shopping centre.

Police believe he tried to steal a car from an elderly woman with a long-arm gun at about 12pm on Monday, but the woman fought him off and he ran through Preston Market with the weapon.

He then stole a car on High Street after threatening the driver with the gun. The car was found at about 12.40pm in Reservoir.

The man is believed to have been responsible for a number of other carjackings in the area.

He is described as having a dark complexion, aged between 30 and 40.
