Bendigo woman killed, teenager critically injured in Moama crash

A young Bendigo woman is dead and teenager is fighting for her life after a crash on the Victoria-NSW border.

Just before 3am on Saturday, a Renault hatchback was driving along Perricoota Road, Moama, when it left the road and struck a tree.

The driver, a 19-year-old teenager, from Bendigo, was flown by helicopter to The Alfred with serious injuries, including injuries to her head. 

The female passenger, also believed to be from Bendigo, aged 22, died at the scene.

Moama Police Acting Inspector Trent Swinton told the Bendigo Advertiser it was believed the woman and the driver were in the area for the Southern 80 Ski Race, a water skiing event.

Officers from Deniliquin Local Area Command are investigating and will prepare a report for the NSW Coroner.
