Dragged into bushes: beach walk ends in sex assault

A woman walking along Hampton beach was dragged into the bushes and sexually assaulted last week.

Victoria Police said the woman, 20, was walking along a bike track near the intersection of Beach and South roads when the assault happened.

About 10pm on Tuesday 13 November, she was grabbed by an unknown man and dragged into nearby bushes on the opposite side of the track. The man then sexually assaulted her and tried to remove her clothing.

The woman fought the man off and then ran to a nearby house.

The man is described as white, in his late 30s, 183 centimetres tall with a stocky build, dark eyes and sandy hair. He was wearing a black puffy bomber jacket and black pants, as well as a black beanie. During the assault he rolled the beanie down over his face but afterwards, it is believed, he removed it.

He was last seen walking south along the bike path.
