The Monash Freeway was brought to a standstill on Friday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash.

Major delays are continuing for long weekend drivers after the crash involving at least three vehicles, including a truck, near High Street in Glen Iris just after 4pm.

Outbound traffic was backed up to South Melbourne around 5.30pm, with motorists advised to expect major delays.

VicRoads was still warning of significant delays outbound and inbound at 6.30pm.

Three outbound lanes and one inbound lane were initially closed. Vicroads said all outbound and inbound lanes were open just after 5.30pm, but delays continue.

Ambulance Victoria attended but a spokeswoman said no one had been treated for injuries or taken to hospital.
