Drunk crashes through shopfronts

Windows at the Mariana Hardwick bridal headquarters are smashed when a driver crashes through three shopfronts on Sydney Road, Brunswick.

The car was travelling north when it veered onto the footpath near the intersection of Sparta Place, smashing into the bridal boutique, Jessica's Cakes and Sara Jade hair salon in the Hardwick Emporium building.

The car then crashed into a pole.

The Coburg driver, 24, returned a breath test reading of .154 per cent. A 27-year-old passenger from Brunswick suffered minor injuries.

Police say they expect to charge the Coburg man on summons with careless driving, speeding and drink-driving.
