A 25-YEAR-OLD drunk driver from Murrumbeena involved in a three-car collision in East Bentleigh on Wednesday afternoon has recorded a reading of .264 per cent.

The crash, which led to the hospitalisation of one of the drivers, occurred in Tambet Street at about 5.15pm. Police said that the 25-year-old, who had his licence immediately suspended, is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and other traffic offences.

In response to the crash police warned that they would be focussing strongly during the peak Christmas and New Year holiday period on the key factors behind road trauma at this time of year – which they said were alcohol and drug driving, speed, fatigue and driver distraction.

Police warned that they would "saturate" the state's roads over the period from November 16 to January 9 in a bid to reduce road trauma.
