Gun threat in car-park road rage fight

A motorist has been charged with threatening to kill another driver during an apparent road rage incident at a shopping centre car park in Melbourne's east.

The 22-year-old man allegedly pulled out an imitation gun and forced the other driver, a 33-year-old Balwyn man, to lie on the ground during the confrontation in the Bulleen Plaza car park in Bulleen yesterday afternoon.

A Victoria Police spokesman said the two drivers became involved in an argument in the car park on Manningham Road about 1.30pm.

The men did not know each other, and it was unclear what they arguing about.

The 22-year-old Balwyn man allegedly pulled out an imitation gun and forced the other man to lie on the ground before fleeing the car park.

Police arrested the man in a a nearby street a short time later.

He has been charged with making threats to kill, possessing a proscribed weapon and assault-related offences.

He was bailed to appear at the Heidelberg Magistrates Court on January 14.
