A Footscray driver will be paying for a spin in his mate's car after he was clocked travelling at 184km/h in a 70km/h zone on Thursday night.
Melbourne Highway Patrol saw a blue Ford sedan travelling at high speeds on Footscray Road, in West Melbourne, at 10pm.
When police pulled the car over they found it was registered to the man in the passenger seat.
The car was towed away and will remain impounded for 30 days under hoon legislation, at a cost of $689.
The driver, 36, is expected to be charged on summons with dangerous speeding and exceeding the speed limit.
