A 42-year-old Horsham man has been killed in a two-car collision at Pimpinio in the state's west on Monday afternoon.

The collision happened at the intersection of Quantong-Cemetery and Polkemmet roads at about 4.30pm.

Police believe the crash occurred when one of the vehicles, which was travelling north on Quantong-Cemetery Road, collided with a car travelling east on Polkemmet Road.

The driver of the east-bound car died at the scene while the driver of the other vehicle, a man in his late 60s, was rushed to the Wimmera Base Hospital with only minor injuries.
