Police are hunting for a car involved in a drive-by shooting in Melbourne's north overnight.

Two people were inside the home in Roxburgh Park when pellets struck the front of the house at 11.15pm. They were not injured.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the vehicle was driving along Thames Way when shots were fired from the car into the front of the home.

The vehicle was last seen driving west along Thames Way towards Salween Crescent.

Police have no further description of the vehicle or the firearm involved in the shooting at this stage.
