Human remains have been discovered following a fire at a Seymour steel factory on Saturday morning.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said human remains had been found at the factory site in central Victoria at about 3pm Sunday.

She said forensic tests were required to determine an identity.

It comes as a man known to live on the site remains missing.

Firefighters were called to the Worrough Street property at 2.15am Saturday, arriving to find the factory fully-engulfed in flames.
