The Liberal Party has been hit by another social media controversy, with a young member forced to resign from his post at Swinburne University Liberal Club after posting homophobic and sexist comments on Facebook.

It follows revelations in the Fairfax Media that Young Liberals from Melbourne University referred to women as ''sluts'' and Muslims as ''degenerates'' on social media. It also comes in the wake of two Liberal candidates resigning ahead of November's state election over a series of offensive tweets and Facebook posts.
In a series of screenshots leaked to Fairfax Media, former Swinburne University Liberal Club vice-president Tim Dark attacks homosexuality and women's grooming habits. The posts were made in October, 2013.
Mr Dark's LinkedIn profile says he is also vice-president of the Keysborough branch of the Liberal Party.
In one Facebook post Mr Dark questions whether ''butchy lesbians'' are considered women.
In another, he writes: ''Lesbians are misandrists and the homosexual like yourself could be considered misogynistic. If you are into stereotyping.''
He also uses the derogatory term ''faggot'' and describes homosexuality as a lifestyle choice.
"I hate women with hairy armpits as do the majority of males. I have no problems with lesbians per say just there (sic) lifestyle choice", he says in another post.
In another post, he urged women to shave their armpits, saying hairy armpits had nearly made him "puke".
He also said he was opposed to gay marriage.
"I like the current social fabric of Australia and see no logical reason as to why this should be ruined.''
He denied being a fascist, saying "if that was true then I would want all homosexuals dead".
"Not that they serve any real purpose anyway," he added.
Mr Dark said in a statement on Monday that the comments were made during an animated Facebook discussion on October 13.
"I sincerely apologise for any offence that I may have caused. Any comments were off the cuff remarks which were not to be taken seriously." he said.
A spokesperson from the Swinburne University Liberal Club condemned the offensive comments, describing them as ''unacceptable behaviour''.
''These comments do not represent the views of the Swinburne University Liberal Club.''
The spokesperson said Mr Dark had resigned from the executive of the club.
The Liberal Party has been contacted for comment.
Students have posted on the Swinburne University Liberal Club's Facebook page asking for the club to ''take appropriate action''.
