A man was allegedly attacked with a machete during a pub brawl in Melbourne's south-east.

Police were called to the Waltzing Matilda Hotel, on the corner of Springvale and Heatherton roads in Springvale, about 12.20am Saturday after reports of a fight in the pub's gaming room.

A 35-year-old Springvale South man was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition to be treated for cuts to his arm and hand.

“Another man was arrested at the scene with what is believed to be a machete,” Victoria Police acting sergeant Julie-Anne Newman said.

Police charged the 39-year-old Noble Park man with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing serious injury and weapon offences.

He was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates Court on October 9.
