Man charged over Balaclava stabbing

A man has been charged following a stabbing in Balaclava that left another man fighting for his life.

Police believe a 46-year-old from Caulfield was stabbed in a supermarket car park on Carlisle Street at about 7.50pm.

The man was taken to The Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.

Police charged a 37-year-old St Kilda man with intentionally causing serious injury and other assault-related offences.

The St Kilda man will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Sunday.

Police also arrested a 41-year-old man, who has now been released.
