Man critically injured after shooting in St Kilda East

Police are hunting for two men seen leaving the scene after a man was shot in Melbourne's south-east on Monday afternoon.

Officers found a 31-year-old man with a gunshot wound inside an apartment in Balaclava Road, St Kilda East just after 4pm.

They are looking for two men seen leaving the scene on foot shortly after the shooting.

Paramedics treated the man for a gunshot wound to his upper leg and took him to The Alfred hospital where he is in a critical condition.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the man's injuries were not life-threatening.

The two men investigators are searching for are of Caucasian appearance, aged in their 30s and one of them was carrying a light-coloured bag.

One man has a thin build and was wearing shorts and a light-coloured t-shirt.

The second man was medium build and was wearing dark-coloured track pants and a jumper with large words written on the back.

The men were last seen walking south along Balaclava Road before turning right onto Orrong Road, police said.
