Police have charged a 33-year-old man with murder after a man was fatally stabbed following an argument in Victoria's east.

A 32-year-old man was rushed to hospital, but died from his injuries after being stabbed in Traralgon, 160 kilometres east of Melbourne, early today.

William Scriven, of Traralgon, faced a bail justice this afternoon and has been remanded in custody to appear in the Morwell Magistrates Court on Monday.

Homicide detectives say three men were involved in the argument.
