A CORONER'S investigation into the disappearance of Barwon Jail boss David Prideaux has been delayed, to allow police more time to probe new information.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman would not say what the new information was or whether it was related to a reported interstate sighting of Mr Prideaux. She said because the case was before the coroner it would be inappropriate for police to comment.
The hearing into the disappearance of Mr Prideaux, who was general manager of the maximum-security prison, was due to have begun on Monday.
An experienced deer hunter, Mr Prideaux went missing in June last year in high country north-east of Mansfield.
He has never been found. He was last seen on the Buckland Spur near Tomahawk Hut.
A statement from the coroner's office on Wednesday said it was awaiting the result of the additional inquiries before setting a new hearing date.
