A person has died and four other people, including two young children, have been taken to hospital in a horror road smash in Victoria’s north-west.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed that two cars collided on the Western Highway, west of Stawell, just before 1pm on Sunday.
John Mullen from Ambulance Victoria said that when paramedics arrived, they found one person dead at the scene. The person’s identity has yet to be released by police.
A man in his 50s was flown to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition, and two young children aged three and five were also taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
‘‘They have no significant injuries, but because of the nature of the accident, they have some bruises and abrasions and have been transported to hospital for observation,’’ Mr Mullen said.
A woman in her 30s was also taken to the Stawell hospital for further examination, he said.
